Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, sixteen tertiary school students and three energy professionals congregated at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for the first day of the 2025 iteration of the Energy Career Day Sessions hosted by the Energy Unit in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, and Domestic Transport.
Executed under the theme, Powering the Future: Your Role in the Energy Revolution, the three-day event provides a unique opportunity for students to engage with seasoned professionals from various sectors of the energy industry in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Shaniqua Carey-Browne, presented opening remarks to the group, imploring them to seize the opportunity to interact with the energy professionals.
“Today, we gather at a pivotal time in history when the world is shifting toward a more sustainable and innovative energy future. This year’s theme, “Powering Your Future: Your Role in the Energy Revolution,” speaks to the crucial role that each of you will play in shaping the future of energy.

The energy professionals featured over the first two days were Human Resource Manager Inga Henderson, Energy Auditor Alfonso Ogarro, Environmental Engineer Dr. Halla Sehaley, Climate Mitigation Expert Cheryll Jeffers, and Director of the Energy Unit Dr. Bertill Browne.
Inga Henderson provided insight into the qualities that the participants should display to succeed as HR professionals.
Dr. Sehaley explained how environmental engineering and energy interests coincide.
On Day 2 of the session, approximately 45 secondary school students participated in the exercises.
The sessions culminate on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Jessups Community Centre in Nevis. Mr. Ronell Pemberton (Generation Engineer), Ms. Anelda Maynard-Date (Energy Consultant), and Mr. Shomari Delashley (Renewable Energy Engineer), and Michael Webbe (Human Resource Professional) will facilitate the closing session.
